# Board Ready

> Board Ready (App Store name: "Cosmetology Exam: Board Ready") is an iPhone app that prepares cosmetology students for the written state board exam, built on the NIC National Cosmetology Theory Examination. When you miss a question, it names the misconception behind your answer and drills it.

- Who it's for: cosmetology students and graduates in the US preparing for the written (theory) state board exam.
- Platform: iPhone, on the App Store. There is no Android version.
- Price model: free to download with free starter questions. Board Ready Pro is an optional auto-renewing subscription; plans, prices and any free trial are shown in the app before purchase.
- Content: 986 practice questions weighted to the NIC blueprint (Hair Care 45%, Scientific Concepts 35%, Skin 10%, Nails 10%); 67 named misconceptions, one behind every wrong answer option; a full 110-question, 90-minute timed mock; 20-question quick mocks; spaced-repetition review; flashcards (key terms and exam traps); a daily plan paced to the exam date. Everything works offline.
- Which exam: built on the NIC National Cosmetology Theory Examination outline, which 26 states and DC use for the written exam. Others, including California, Texas, Florida and New York, give their own or PSI's exam; Board Ready covers the shared core, and the app shows your state's exam facts.
- Not covered: the hands-on practical exam.
- Independent: not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by NIC, any state board, Milady, Cengage or Pivot Point.
